The Scale of Things

šŸŒŽIn this activity, students will explore the concept of size of different objects around us through estimation and scientific notation.Ā

Begin with the starter slides (Teaching tips can be found in the speaker notes!), where students can estimate and compare measurements—be sure to project or print these images. The main activity then dives into scientific notation, allowing students to convert measurements and rearrange items by size.Ā Prior knowledge of scientific notation is recommended.Ā

ā° About 30-40 minutes to complete, including the starter and main activity.Ā
