NFL Home Field Advantage

With a new season starting soon, ask them whether they think a game played at home gives their team an advantage.  If so, how much of an advantage?  Enjoy the discussion first. 

When you look at the visual (graphic), what do you see?  What does it make you think?  What do you wonder? In this updated activity, students use an infographic to compare NFL team home and away wins. Students consider the best home team, the best away team, and consider if NFL teams really do seem to have a home field advantage. Some teams actually won more games on the road than at home, so the answer is less clear-cut than it used to be.

FYI: NFL teams now play 17 regular-season games, so each team gets either 8 home and 9 away games or 9 home and 8 away games (playoffs not included).
