Mathematical Gift Wrapping

🎁🎁In this updated activity, students will use math to explore two methods of wrapping gifts, including the mathematical method demonstrated by Sara Santos. They'll calculate the dimensions of wrapping paper required for gift boxes, and compare methods to determine which saves more paper. Suitable for Grade 7 and above.

📝 The starter slides offer videos, fun questions about gift wrapping (an option to even experiment different wrapping methods!), and introduce the mathematics behind efficient wrapping techniques to set the stage for the main activity

⏰ 60 –70 minutes, including the starter activity

✨ Bonus: The supporting materials include an extension task & solutions for further challenges—perfect for high school students or advanced learners ready to dive deeper.
