This activity begins with exploring connections among a few photos to spark curiosity and critical thinking in the starters, before diving into the main activity where students will work on discovering the formula that links the two temperature systems. They’ll interpret the graph, draw and write equations. Along the way, they'll reflect on questions to think beyond surface-level graphing problems toward seeing how math is powerful in real-life contexts.

This is a great activity to use when students are ready to find linear equations from graphs and explore how different representations all model the same linear relationship.
